  • ‍His experience in front of, and behind the camera came early - filming with his parents and younger brothers under "PEZ Productions" as a child. His first pieces included No More Enchiladas and thriller shorts where he famously used ketchup for blood and his little brother as the stuntman. Even then, the raw talent was undeniable; he was editing on Movie Maker by age 10, cutting scenes with an intuitive rhythm of a filmmaker.

  • Ethan was heavily invested in basketball into his late high school years, and later music - but he always managed to incorporate visuals into his passions. After high school, he spent a summer at the New York Film Academy where he began to redefine his passion for filmmaking as he incorporated it into his music.

A pivotal chapter in Ethan's artistic life was his time at Vancouver Film School (VFS). He left as a young enthusiast and returned as a "wise man"—a polished professional with a razor-sharp eye. At VFS, Ethan immersed himself in the collaborative world of filmmaking. His friends and classmates remember him as a diligent creative who was eager to learn and grow. He was known for being a problem solver on set, someone who cared deeply about the details and worked hard to bring a vision to life. This dedication culminated in his work on the short film Das Kleid, a project that explored themes of identity and authenticity—values that were central to Ethan’s own worldview.

Beyond the technical skills he sharpened in Vancouver, Ethan is remembered for the warmth he brought to his community. He was a supportive presence for his peers, offering encouragement during long nights of editing and stressful deadlines. He believed in the potential of those around him, often reminding his friends that they were capable of overcoming the obstacles in their path.

  • On set, Ethan was a force of nature. Friends and collaborators describe a fascinating switch that would flip: the joking, easy-going Ethan would vanish, replaced by a focused, precise director. One friend affectionately called him a "bulldog on set." He was a perfectionist who handled everything from A to Z—scouting locations, organizing costumes, securing props, and directing crowds—often on a shoestring budget.

Yet, his leadership was defined by collaboration, not ego. He was a mediator and a delegator who knew exactly how to pull the best out of his crew. He taught his friends how to see the world through his eyes, instructing them on framing shots in rearview mirrors or capturing the perfect lighting during a casual hang-out.

  • Ethan’s dual talents in music and film created a powerful synergy. He didn't just hear music; he saw it. This ability allowed him to direct music videos that were visually arresting and emotionally resonant, turning small rooms into cinematic universes. He viewed filmmaking as his long-term legacy—a timeless medium where he could tell stories that would outlast trends.

Behind the scenes

  • Ethan’s passion for the game was the spark that ignited an entire community. His love for basketball inspired his father to found the All-Star Basketball Academy (ABA), where Ethan became not just a player, but the literal symbol of the organization—the silhouette in the logo was Ethan himself.

Starting with the "Blue Devils" at age five and playing through the travel ball circuit and into high school, Ethan was obsessed with perfecting his craft. Whether it was waking up at dawn to master dribbling between his legs or studying the game with the focus of a professional, he refused to stop until he got it right.

  • Ethan’s competitive spirit was rooted in his lifelong love for basketball. He often embraced the role of the underdog, finding that high-pressure moments helped him sharpen his focus and elevate his game. On the court, he was a natural leader who knew how to encourage his teammates to reach their potential. He was known for his sharp basketball IQ and an unselfish, intuitive passing ability that always found the open man

  • Ethan’s competitive fire was matched only by his desire to elevate those around him. He was a "sound voice of motivation" for his teammates, pushing them to believe in their own potential. This extended to his brothers; he was a fierce competitor against Devin, forcing him to step up his game, and a patient mentor to Ian and the younger players in the academy.

Even after he transitioned his creative focus toward music and film in his junior year of high school, the lessons learned on the court remained. The discipline, the "wow factor," and the ability to shine on the brightest stages were traits he carried forever.

Ethan played with a fearless heart. As his father recalled, "He stood on the court as a giant."

AN ATHLETE

From the moment he first stepped onto the hardwood at the Calabasas Community Center, it was clear that Ethan was a natural. While he may have often been the smallest player on the floor, he possessed the biggest presence—a "shining star" who commanded the game with an intensity and instinct that could not be taught.
